The FIE President is on the record as advocating the removal of the off-target light in foil (as was done to sabre some years back) to make it easier for non-fencers to follow.
What do YOU think?

I think is a retarded rule that should have even been brought up in the first place for disscussion. I understand that FIE only has the best intentions for fencing to make the sport safer and more of a spectator sport but, really foil without off target isnt foil its sabre with point and thrusting touches. It shouldnt be pasted and they should bring back old timing it has taken away from flecheing whcih is also part of foil fencing. They are changing a classic sport and turning it into somthing for the common espn sport center viewer. I see it as if they are to lazy to learn about the actions or to slow to follow the action they shouldnt even bother in the first place.

I agree with GHE.. I don't think there should be any change to foil. The sport is fine the way it is right now. In fact, I too think they should change the timing system.. I miss those awesome touches to the back of the lame. To me THATS worth watching. Might as well just get rid of foil and have everyone fence epee.
