While idly surfing this morning I made a quick visit to several fencing bulletin boards and fora.
The US-based Fencing.Net and UK-based Fencing Forum are quite active.
The forum on France's Escrime-Info is down for maintenance, as is Mexico's EsgrimaMex.
The old Fencing Sucks forum is dead, but their gallery and other areas are still up. I noticed for a time they used a phpbb board, but it just served as a recepticle for spam. From what I saw near the end, posting IP addresses of contributors killed them. Without 100% anonimity they could not survive and were a casualty of the flame wars they were seemingly created to ignite.
As to US Sections, the forum for the Rocky Mountain Section hosted by Fencing Net saw their most recent post on October 4th.
The Southeast Section was a little more active. It had its most recent message posted on November 28th.
The division-based fora are a very mixed bag.
The Virginia Division Forum is pretty active.
The Illinois Division Forum also seems healthy.
The Mountain Valley Division in California uses a Yahoo Group instead of a forum, as does the New Jersey Division.
The Plains Texas Division forum is fairly active, but most of the posts are ones made by LongBlade and are mirrors of what he already posts for us here (Thanks, LongBlade!).
The Ark-La-Miss Division Forum requires membership just to enter and read,so I have no idea how active it is.
Club-based fora are so quiet I can not tell if they are active or not.
Amarillo College Fencing is a lot like the Plains Texas Division forum. Most of it is LongBlade's copies of his posts here regarding tournaments and fencing news. There is, however, other, local material posted by others.
The Austin Fencers Club Forum is very active. Some days it has many times the number of posts as this forum... all spam (gambling, porn, etc).
The Clear Lake Fencing Club Forum is slower with 1-4 posts per month, mostly by MTD and, less often, schlager7. I also saw a post by Geezer, there.
The only material posted on the Clear Lake High School Fencing Club forum in the last year is from LongBlade, and to a lesser degree, schlager7. I also noted posts by Prudence, Steve Moss and MTD, though, but they were quite old. Then, too, as I understand it, the club has since folded, so no one is minding the store...
The Caddo Magnet Alumni Fencing Forum's last post was August 13th.
The more active Caddo Magnet Fencing Forum saw its most recent post sent in on August 20th.
The Arkansas Fencing Academy Forum (this club is actually in the Oklahoma Division) is now a dead link. In its last days it mostly carried posts from LongBlade. (Lord knows he's doing his part to keep them active.)
The Bladesport Fencing Forum out of Oklahoma is also now a dead link.
