This seems to be a year for lapses in communication.
My understanding from this forum (and a few discrete emails) is that the merging of RYC competitions to the Gulf Coast SSCC was done at the instigation of the sectional RYC head without any consultation with the powers that be over the SSCC.

Yeah, what I used to think of as a problem with this division I now recognize in the Section and several other divisions.
Nobody seems to know what anyone else is doing and, voila, conflicts. Understandable when groups are keeping secrets. Less so when the information is out there.

One thing to remember about scheduling - and its a point I've made before, extensively. Not every division enjoys the capacity for what are basically free venues that can be had at almost any time. For major events in Dallas, Oklahoma and Shreveport, its necessary to schedule 9-12 months out (for example, today I just made final arrangements for the Wang for next season) as well as pay a hefty price for the venue.
This problem lay at the heart of the scheduling issues for the Rose this season.

Fair enough, and I both read and understood your reasoning for North Texas pairing an SSCC and an RYC. I guess my question is why Gulf Coast chose to follow suit.
