Dear Veteran Fencers,
The SVCC #2 tournament for the 2008-9 Season will be in San Marcos, TX and sponsored by the STX Division. LongBlade (Kyle Maysel) and Oscar Barrera are the organizers. Kudos to them! The SVCC#2, the Ken Hogan Veterans tournament will be held in San Marcos, TX on Saturday November 15, 2008. On Sunday November 16, the Ken Hogan would likely be an Open event.
Registration in Ask Fred will be posted soon.
We also have now scheduled the SVCC #3 tournament in San Antonio Texas, the 4th Veteran's Melee on January 24, 2009, a week prior to the 29th Poujardieu Memorial Tournament. Information on the SVCC can be found at: askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.php?tournament_id=5485 .
As I indicated earlier, we are expecting to have the SVCC #4 in Katy, TX sometime during Spring of 2009.
Lastly, point list are available in Ask Fred: askfred.net/Results/pointsLists.php .
Yours truly,
JEC

Dear Veteran Fencers, Please consider attending the Southwest Veterans' Circuit Cup (SVCC) #2 tournament for this season. I convinced Oscar to give us Saturday for this VETERAN tournament. We plan to have 4 events this year, with #3 on Jan. 24 in San Antonio, and #4 sometime in April or May at Katy Blades.. For Veterans, we have a limited number of tournaments with similarly able (or disabled) fencers. Please register and attend the San Marcos tournament. Saturday November 15, 2008:- Veteran's Mixed Foil: 9:00 A.M. - Veteran's Mixed Epee: 11:00 A.M. - Veteran's Mixed Sabre: 3:00 P.M. askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=7087 Thanks, Jose E. Cavazos P.S. Wrong thread, Jett!

I received an email today from one of the STX officers to indicate a change of venue for the Ken Hogan tournament.
It will be held at the San Antonio Fencing Center.
The sponsor of the event continues being the South Texas Division. As this event is in my turf, we will celebrate on Saturday after the Veteran events at Pompeii Italian Grill. www.pompeiigrill.com/
Veterans, this is the #2 event of the SVCC. Sign up!!!!

We had a lot of fun on Saturday Nov. 15.
Ray Sexton was on fire getting Gold in VMF and VMS, and Silver in VME. I lost to eventual VME Gold medalist, John Moreau. Don Cravey and Curtis Hardy also earned medals and points.
Points were updated in the SVCC standings after the Ken Hogan Tournament. Keep in mind that the rules for points are different for the 3-weapon standings, in order to factor the strength of the events. Before DEs, we did 2 rounds of pools for VMF and had a single 7 fencers pool for VME. In VME, we had 3 As, 3 Bs and a nasty C. VMS had a single round and DEs. We then went to dinner and to celebrate at Pompei Italian Grill. The Open events on Sunday were also very competitive. Mixed Epee was an A1.
We are looking forward to see more Veteran Fencers on Saturday January 24, 2009 for the 4th Veterans' Melee.
