Ok, we now have 2 people in Seawinds that are interested in light weapons... One authorized and one not. Both have all gear (except for hoods) and are wanting to be able to practice and play. All you light weapons people out there in the Shire, please make it if possible, to the fighter practices as we would really like to learn and gear up! Hope to see you on the field...

Okay,
I've been talking with our esteemed Regional Marshal Lord Brian and here's what we can do. Since we do not currently have an authorized marshal here in Seawinds, this does not mean we cannot still practice footwork, parry drills, and other *non-contact* training type things. So, bring out your gear tonight and we'll go over some stuff, lord knows I can use a re-fresher.

ditto...Greetings Seawinds! I have been in talks with some of the rapier fighters of Seawinds and I have said that I will be more than willing to come down for an official practice so I can do some authorizations including teaching the marshal's class. I am looking at coming down July 31-Aug 2 or Aug 7-9. These are the weekends of Pennsic. Is this acceptable to the rapier fighters? Can we find a location (like a park where we can have an offical practice, not just someones back yard)? Also, no rapier marshal means no offical rapier practice. This means no blows thrown at any offical SCA function. Can you a rapier meet & greet? Talk about armour & blades? Ways to stay in shape? Drills? Sure. But no fighting. copiedThe best way to make this happen would be to have one or more of the local rapier fighters apply for the position of local rapier marshal. This is a warranted position. The way you do this is to complete the application for office located here seneschal.ansteorra.org/forms/ApplicationJan08.pdf. Once completed, you should send the application along with copies of your membership card and driver's license to Lord Brian and send a courtesy copy to your local seneschal. To be clear, there is a difference between being an authorized marshal and being a warranted rapier marshal.
