If you didn't know, last weekend was the... 2011 USACFC National Championships. WHAT? The annual club (non-NCAA, that is) team and individual* championships. The top 15-16 individuals per pool per spot (A, B, C) went to the individuals pools. From there, the top 8 went to another pool, and results from that pool determined top 8 placing. WHERE? The University of Chicago, although seemingly hosted by both U Chicago and Northwestern. Most of the grounded strips (for which there were grounded strips for all of epee and foil!) were provided either by Northwestern or Absolute Fencing. WHEN? April 9th and 10th, 2011. Anyway, from the regular guys here (or at least, I assume the "regular guys" include people from SWIFA, and the usual divisions in question in the area), Texas A&M and UT Austin fielded teams, but also from Texas was UT El Paso, which was interesting. Results have been posted here at the USACFC website, but for a quick breakdown. Texas A&M Men's Epee: 2nd UT Men's Epee: 5th Texas A&M Men's Foil: 5th Texas A&M Men's Teams Overall: 5th Nic Modawar (TAMU): 8th Place, Men's Foil Individuals Zach Bartholomew (TAMU): 6th Place, Men's Foil Individuals Robert Wooley (TAMU): TBA, Men's Foil Individuals...top 12 places in individuals get "all American" -- but only 8 places made it to the final pool of individuals. We believe Robert made 9th or 10th, but the USACFC should be posting more complete results soon. Lyndy Black (TAMU): 2nd Place, Women's Foil Individuals Kathan Bysani (Texas): 4th Place, Men's Sabre Individuals

I found a clip of one bout at the USACFC Championships. No one from Texas but a nice look at the venue.
