Hooray, FCUH was not at my old address. There must have been a few poor souls that who thought the club was on the Northeast side near the beltway.

Interesting. At first I thought "that's too many clubs, the count is wrong." Then I realized that what we are shown is all the locations where fencing classes occur, so groups like Alliance, Salle Mauro and BCFA show multiple locations.
It makes a great one-picture-worth-1,000-words answer to the question "Where's the closest place to fence to ME?"

That is a very cool map. It would be cool to expand it to cover the rest of the Section, although I'm sure that's a lot of work (and would take local knowledge, like knowing what addresses are coach's homes versus where the club meets).

A handy piece of work. It is kind of eye-opening seeing the division boundaries laid out over the state like that.
It certainly shows areas of concentration and areas that are not served but could probably support some growth. (Is it just me, or does much of fencing in this division seem to snake along with I-45?)

There's a club in Huntsville? News to me, but hardly surprising. Colleges and universities are great places to start a fencing club. The division should consider something to encourage exactly that at other colleges in the area.

My thanks to those who shared comments and corrections with me. I have mounted a link to that map on the Clubs page of the Rogue site...

Try starting one. You never know. Folks who fenced back in school and miss it might start showing up. The next thing you know, you have a club.

I am trying to find Fencing lessons or classes for my 11 year old son. If you have any information please pass it on. he has talked about wanting to do it and the Olympics have only made him push me harder to try and find any information that i can. Thank you for any information that you can provide.

I could help more if I knew where you were. There are a lot of clubs in Texas. Let me know your location and I will send you links the the three closest clubs.

Leslie, as of right this moment the only fening group in Corpus Christi is the Fencing League at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Unfortunately that group is strictly for that school's students.
That said, the recent publicity for fencing at the State Games of Texas last weekend has brought some local non-students with an interest in fencing out of the woodwork. Some have already made contact with the fencing coach for the TAMU-CC group. I will send her a link to this post and she will make contact with you...
Stay tuned.

Hi, Leslie. I'm one of the coaches for TAMUCC's Fencing League. Bob Jones (a friend of mine in fencing circles) believes he might have a place for us to teach fencing. Snap Fitness offered for us to use their facility, but their flooring is not ideal and we needed 6 students to get started. Right now we have 4 that I am aware of, but I would like to see what kind of deal Bob is able to negotiate before I set up classes at Snap. Please email me your name and number, and I will add your son's name to the list. My email is saberbobcat@aol.com. Thanks!!
