A Letter to an Officer of the Clear Lake Fencing Club
Dear Matt, Don Anthony passed on your email. To be frank, the new season will revert back to the proper enforcement of the falling rule. The Board did indeed pass the rule change. As for the date of effectiveness, let's just start using it. Accidental falls or slips go unpenalized. However, a fencer can't score a touch while falling. In addition to annulling the touch, the fencer gets a card. Fencers who fall to avoid a touch or engage in improper or dangerous fencing should be carded, as well. My column in the mag covered the rationale on this a few issues back. If you have any questions, please let me know. thanks. Jeff Bukantz
