There has not been too much regarding new rules coming down the pike, so I thought I look back at the old rules... Even older than the fleche in sabre! I was cleaning out the old "My Documents" files and found these images taken of the very first fencing rules book for this country, as adopted by the Amateur Fencers League of America, October 14, 1891. Here they are, all four pages of rules.

Do you know who has the originals? Good question. You make me curious too. All I personally can add, so far, is that these same four images are available on the Web in PDF format at www.whitman.edu/fencing/files/AFLA1891.pdfThis PDF document appears to have been prepared in 2001 from a Microsoft Word document.

It appears that most of them are still in effect, with some changes, and a lot of additions.
