I just wanted to let you all know I drove through Port Arthur this saturday and our building is utterly demolished by Rita. I was expecting it considering the age, construction and location of the building. However, I am still shocked to see the club in ruin. I will post photos once they are developed.

That's awful.
Is everyone OK?

I remember that building was quite old. I would have been suprised if it made it. Best of luck to y'all!

Ivanhoe, I got the photo you sent. I'll be updating the rogue site Wednesday and will post it on the main page, with a link back here...

Gang,
My family is doing well. Our house survived with minimal damage. Emma now has 3 teeth and she's working on another. She just started to sit up and she's getting pretty close to saying dada and moma. She's a trip! I'll look forward to looking at the rouge site later today.

My apologies on the rogue site. I'll have to hit it Thursday morning. My mother is starting her chemo this week and things have been a bit out of order.

Schlager: No apologies are necesary! It's a voluntary thing. You won't be shot if you go "AWOL" for a couple of days!
Take care of your Mom! We'll get by for a couple of days... somehow, my friend!

Ivanhoe: That's too cool! Take LOTS of pictures of her (and you). You'll need it for Blackmail later! *LOL*
What's the plan for the Spindletop Cavaliers, if you know? Can we help?

Longblade,
A belated thank you for remembering my birthday!
Oh trust me! we are loaded with pictures already. As to the club, I haven't heard from anyone as of yet. I have Sinclair's cell-phone number but I have yet to call him.
A little Gulf Coast fencing history: There was a message on a piece of the building telling us to call Craig Kamisky (SP sorry) to find out about our reels and scoring equipment. I was able to recover an intact foil trophy from 1991 that no doubt belongs to Conor Power.

It's posted, guys, top of the page. clfc.2itb.com/index.htmlJeremy, I'm so sorry. Let us know if there is anything we can do... I got the following regarding Peter & Hazel Power(via Glenn Weathington, with his own news as well: Morning John. I have not heard from anyone else yet. There is still about half the homes without power and they are talking about several more weeks. I returned last Thursday and have only minor wind and rain damage. I was one of the lucky ones. If you have heard from the others let me know. I am at work today but still on generator power. I am sleeping in my office and looks like I might be here for a while. Thanks Glenn We consider we are among the lucky one too. We had siding and shingle damage, but no major loss. Our vacation to Nova scotia, therefor, continues "undampened"! More, when we get home (10/20/05) Hazel & Peter

Jeez...that's scary. I used to fence there back in 1999 with the Powers.
