I know this has nothing to do with the gulf coast but I was hoping some one could point me in the right direction. I am in the US Air Force and was just stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo TX. I would like to find somewhere to learn how to fence again. ( I took lessons years ago and would like to get back into the sport) So if anyone could assist me I would appreciate it. Thanks Kate etrimble0223@mscc.edu

My guess would be, unless someone has started fencing back up in Abilene, your nearest club would be one of those in Round Rock or Austin.
Not helpful, I know.

I hate to tell you this, but Lubbock is the closest place you'll find fencing from San Angelo. Here's the link to the Plains Texas Division website: www.plainstexasdivision.com/ You'll find the Double T Fencing Club and Lubbock Fencing Club links there. They are good people and will do anything to help you out, but it'll be a long drive! I'm sorry!

I know this has nothing to do with the gulf coast but... Yeah, So? I'm not Gulf Coast either. I'm in the South Texas Division. Fencing in Texas is fencing in Texas! Show up anyhere, and I bet you'll be welcome! My friends up in the Plains Texas Division already have the heads up on you, too! They'll be looking for you![/b]

Suggestion: Start one! You'd be surprised at the number of old fencers that are out there. Run an ad in the base paper or San Angelo's daily rag and see what kind of responses you get. The sport, after all, seems to attract military types. That's pretty much what ol' Colonel Mergs did here.

Also if you have the time you should start another fencing club. The more the merrier!

Being from that division, there is a new club trying to start in Midland. I know that isn't a whole lot of help, but it's the closest thing than us (Double T Fencing from Texas Tech.)
