I will be happy to schedule some Veteran's events this year, as long as there are weekends on the Calendar available. I have a location that is always open, and I now have a growing group of Veteran fencers.
I will not be in the meeting, though. Keep us in mind when developing tournaments.

Augie, We were planning to have 2 USFA events per each of the central divisions (i.e.: STX, GCTX, NTX) getting to a total of 6 events for the season. The intent is to have them in different clubs if possible. It would be nice if you could send a representative of your club to the meeting. We'll miss you. (truly, we need another epee A) Jose

I placed the new ROLLING points for 3-weapon/gender in AskFred updating the Fete de Luna. I was quite liberal including every Vet combined (40 and over) event/tournament in the SWS posted in AskFred. I plan to post each separate weapon/gender rolling points later today. askfred.net/Results/pointsLists.phpThe final standings for each weapon from the 2006-7 SVCC were also posted. They are in page 2 of the Point Lists. Also there are the 2005-6 SVCC standings.

I just posted the ROLLING points for the Circuit. As I discussed it with several of you, using the formula that the Regular Southwest Section Circuit Cup uses probably would be better to increase the importance of each tournament. In prior years, I had used the formula of # of fencers below + 1. The SSCC formula is based on the USFA Div I point table down to 32 fencers AND requiring to win a DE bout or have a bye.
I would like to hear your opinions in public (this thread) or via email or PM.
Thanks,
Jose

At first blush, not having settled in to really comb for the flaws of each system, my feeling is that the SSCC system seems to have worked fairly well, up to this point.
What would be the flaws or less desirable aspects of using the SSCC model?

What would be the flaws or less desirable aspects of using the SSCC model? Flaws:- Not everyone that competes earns points.
- Winning a big competition counts as much as a small competition.
Strengths:- Each tournament counts, encouraging people to attend them.
- By requiring to have won a DE/bye, you earned points, not just given for being there.
- Uses the table point reward system that the establishment in the SW Section has approved.
Currently, they are Rolling Points. We plan to have 2 tournaments in STX, another one in GCTX, and at least 1 in NTX. All of these tournaments must be USFA tournaments to count, and inclusion into the SVCC needs to be discussed with me and announced in this message board at least ONE month prior to the event. Season runs as USFA season. Tournaments should not overlap NAC tournaments (other than Youth) and can not occur on the same weekend. Preferably, each of them occurs in a different month.
