I just got my usual monthly Barnes & Noble email and see that The Cavalier in the Yellow Doublet, the latest translation in the Captain Alatriste series is coming out.
Now I have one more thing to look forward to in the next month.

Now that my lovely wife has found a copy for me, I can finally dive into the next Captain Alatriste novel!
We are very happy.

Sorry, but I saw the movie, and the Alatriste story is very rushed, episodic and sometimes incoherent.
If you want to see a story with truly exciting swordplay and adventure from days of olde. . .
You just can't beat the classics.

Before Schlager challenges me to a duel. . . the Alatriste books actually are very good. It was just the movie that played like a poorly done Cliffs Notes version.
I'm still waiting for a director's cut.

I haven't read this one yet, but I have the Alatriste novels to be very good. Then, too, I like Perez-Riverte's other novels as well.
