A fellow on another (non-USFA/non-sport) fencing forum recently bought a pair of old foils with lunette/figure-8 guards and was hoping to learn the manufacturer of the blades. I don't recognize the mark, but thought it could not hurt to toss it out to the assembled viewers. Anyone recognize it? FoilsMakersMark

I would have to say that those are bladesmith or owners marks and not the manufacturers marks. The MADE IN FRANCE is a typical mark by France Lame of that type of blade. Since it is in English that would date these blades in the later part of the 20th century, say 1950 to 1970.

Got this from Ted Li, today:
My guess is that you have a Leon Paul blade, as the Etoile (“Star”) mark/word has been used by LP. Also, the number “5” seems to indicate the blade length in number of inches above 30”. Only the English/British/Leon Paul comes from a country where the English system of measurement is used. You might want to contact Leon Paul for confirmation.

Hi Barry
I don't know for sure, but I would guess it is Prieur, since their 1929 catalogue offers an Etoile blade.
