from my email...
Greetings Friends,
I know some of you have already heard the news but I wanted to let everyone know what has happened recently. On Sunday morning my shop with all of my equipment burned to the ground. We are in the process of digging through the rubble but basically everything is gone. What we have recovered than can be used would fit in an ice chest - and most of that has to be repaired in some way first. We don't really know what started the fire but our best guess is electrical. It seems to have burned from the top down, starting in the middle of the shop. It was very exciting, propane tanks exploding, 150' streams of fire, firemen's uniforms melting, people moving out of the way seconds before things shot in their direction...
Though this is a tough time for us, no insurance (don't ask) and no tools with which to work either of our businesses (we've come up with at least a $20K loss so far,) we do have a lot to be thankful for. Neither of us were hurt; our house is only scorched; we were home at a time we would not normally have been; all of the finished knife stock was in the truck; and all the tools for doing a demo were on the trailer. We're temporarally out of the knife making and construction business but hopefully we can line up some demos so we can get together enough money to replace a few of the most important tools.
We covet your prayers and as soon as we have finished the clean up Sarah will be compiling a list of what was lost. I'll let everyone know so if you know someone that has one to sell, you can let us know.
Thank you for your support
