The Section Calendar says it will be at Baylor either February 18 or 25. Any idea which?

I sincerely doubt it will be 2/25, as that should be the Spruill-Masters Open at UT. Unless it's a dastardly plan to prevent Longhorn fencers from dominating by their rivals.

Don't think so, just the Yahoo Group.

Web site would make lots of sense, huh? I remember there being about three alleged SWIFA sites since I started going to SWIFAs. They all seem to be kaput.

Well, given the SWIFA organization doesn't exist...

The Texas State kids have an Epee and Sabre squad together. We're just working on a Foil squad now so we have a full team.
Look out everybody, the Bobcats are coming!

I know A&M is going. What about the UH contingent, Katman? Yah we're sending people. No saber squads though. Maybe not even an epee squad and if that, it'll have me on it of all people.

Wow I haven't posted on here is forever. Anyway looks like Texas Tech will be bringing one team for epee. We need to know more details though. I don't have any idea where the event is going to be in Waco and all that. Can someone email me the details.

From the UTSA Yahoo group:
hiya guys, i'm just putting out this short note, etc. to at least give you guys a heads up on what's going down for swifa. don't know when adam/zarissa were going to get a post out, so mine will be short, sweet and simple.
1. we leave friday, meet at 4pm in front of the convo. once we're all there, we go~ but keep in mind, there's a basketball game at 3pm, so convo center will be busy...
2. we arrive back saturday night, will probably be back between 11pm and midnight
3. pack for a 2 day trip, bring: toiletries, spare clothes, pjs, FOOD (snacks on car trips), some spending money, personal fencing gear and other essentials.
so yeppers, adam or someone else will/might post a m! ore indepth post if needed... if there are any questions however, feel free to call an officer and we'll help ya out! see ya'll friday!
*go go, g-o, go 'runners go!*

I remember the SWIFA at A&M where UTSA called me on the road to have me pass on the news they'd be delayed (flat tire?). Ahh, cell phone trees. It was a very foggy morning, and somewhere in the two conversations (call from Adam, call to Beau) I hit a flying bird. I wasn't sure, but the trailing car reported a puff of feathers.

Sorry. In case the copied post for the UT website didn't clarify They're sending a squad in each weapon. (I keep having to edit it from "we" to "they" - I haven't been out that long!)

Here's all the info I have:From: "baylorfencingclub" Hannah_Zdansky@baylor.edu Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:37:09 -0000 Subject: [swifa_fencing] SWIFA 3 This Saturday! Greetings, As I hope you all remember, this Saturday, March 4th, is the date of the Baylor Fencing Club hosted SWIFA 3. First of all, you should know that we currently only have three directors who are willing to come and help. I have been sending emails out since the beginning of December if not earlier, but people have said that they either cannot with conviction, or have refused outright, or have failed to say anything at all. Thus, we have no choice but to, in part, take the former recommendation of self-directing for at least one weapon entirely. We are going to stick two refs on foil, and the other one can direct saber or épée at your bidding. I am sorry for this inconvenience, but directors have been most rude about helping for some odd reason. Furthermore, the Baylor Fencing Club only owns two strips; thus, we ask that you bring your own to help out and as back-up in case of difficulties. I would assume that most of you know how to get to Baylor, but nonetheless, I will offer some directions. If you can find I-35, you can find Baylor. From I-35, get onto University Parks. Travel until you reach the second stop-light and turn right onto Bagby Ave. Travel down Bagby until you reach the first stop-light and turn right onto 2nd Street. You will soon see Russell Gym on your right. Following is a link to a map: www.baylor.edu/map/. Registration will be starting around 8:00a.m. and requires $50 per team. Keep in mind that the sooner we get started, the sooner we can finish. I believe this is about it. If you have any questions, my email is Hannah_Zdansky@baylor.edu. Hope to see you all here on Saturday! Safe Traveling, Hannah Zdansky BFC President

Here's a better map. Russell Gym is Building #61.www.baylor.edu/map/index.php?id=10807Exit I-35 and turn East on University Parks Drive (Left from Dallas/Right from Austin). Take the right turn at the second traffic light onto Bagby Avenue. Take the right turn at the first trafic light onto Speight Drive. You will be looking at Russell Gym. (Free parking is available in front of the gym.)

I've just received word on the squad winners for SWIFA #3:
Foil -- A&M
Epee -- A&M
Saber -- A&M
Not sure of any of the other placings.
Gig 'em.
