I'm curious. I always understood the "schultz" style sabre guard was illegal because it was so big it afforded unfair extra protection of the hand.
Nowadays the sword hand is no longer target. Does that mean the humongous "schultz" guard can legally return to fencing?

So what's a schultz guard, and why would you want one?

I saw those in the American Fencers Supply catalog. Basically, they provide a lot more protection for the hand.

Okay, I looked it up on the AFS site. It's just an otherwise normal-looking sabre guard except that the knuckle-guard part is a LOT wider.
