I just read this the other day, but had not heard much discussion locally.
What do our local foilists think of the recent FIE vote to require foil tips to be able to push back with 750 grams (like epees) as opposed to the 500 grams currently.
Time to start pricing new springs...
At least we will only need one solid weight and not the current 2-part configuration.
Also don't get in too big a rush. I understand this change (along with several others) will be tested among the different juniors compatitions in the 2004-2005 season.

Actually, I've become all-for changes which require foilists to make dead-on hits (the old classical fencer's 2-inch curve upon the hit) and not these light little half-hits.
I mean, after all, straight hits with foils don't leave the welts of flicks or the bruises of some dead-on epee hits.
Between that and the lockout and debounce time changes a coup droit type attack on the prep of a wind-up flicker becomes a viable option no matter who the director is.
There are SO few arquements in a one-light scenario. ;D
