"Police Blotter
Police work to sort out stories involving a sword
07:09 AM CST on Wednesday, January 31, 2007
Staff report
Police are sorting out the stories of a man, woman and several witnesses after a Monday fight that left both the man and woman injured. Police responded when they saw a fight in the street shortly before 10 p.m. They arrived to find a woman bleeding, a man lying in the street and three men walking away. The woman told police the fight started in her home in the 3100 block of Inglewood Street when she told her boyfriend that she was leaving to play cards with her brother. She said her boyfriend wouldn’t let her leave and grabbed a sword from her sword collection and slapped her with it. That slap left a large gash in her face near her nose she said, and she was bleeding profusely.
Her brother said the woman called him for help and he arrived, as did several other men. Witnesses said they confronted the boyfriend and two of the men hit and kicked the woman’s boyfriend, witnesses said. The boyfriend told police the men had beaten him up, but he told them little else about his fight with those men. But he said he and his girlfriend had been arguing and she pulled a sword on him. When he tried to block her swing, he hit her in the face with the sword’s scabbard, he said. Police arrested the boyfriend and the two men who were accused of beating him up."
Two things of interest to note. First, it was HER sword collection. Second, he claims to have hit her with the scabbard, not the sword which presumes he actually drew the weapon. Sort of like peeling the banana and eating the peel.
I think I'll go the the city maps section and look up that address. It'll tell me what parts of town to avoid.
