Malibu now has its own fencing club! The Malibu Fencing Club is now scheduling private and group lessons for new and experienced fencers in its brand new facility located at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road in Malibu, California. Foil, epee and sabre will be offered in the classical European style by Andrew Villaverde, the founder of the Los Angeles based Classical Blade Society. Again my question, why can't someone open a classical salle in the Houston area?

Because most of the clubs around Houston are built around the kids and, by default, around the parents.
Parents want their kids to win, set off lights and buzzers, get medals and trophies as totems of self-worth.
Classical fencing takes a lot longer for less well-materialized goals. It's more internal. When you're a teen, you don't have that kind of patience.
Not the club owners' at fault, really, this time. They need students to survive. Students have parents. Parents want medals. Hence the rush to excellence.
Didn't local news have a feature recently of the pre-teen set and the rise of sports injuries previously associated with late teens and adults?
