The Veteran events from the ROSE Condon will not be part of the Southwest Region Veteran's Circuit.
I sent the organizers two emails over the last 6 weeks about their participation in the circuit. I received no reply.
I needed to post the inclusion of the event 2 weeks prior to the event occurring and the organizers have to allocate a $2.00 tax per veteran per event into the pot for medals, which will be awarded the first event of the 2008-9 season (The Fete de Luna).

The Jurasic Open Veteran's Tournament has been scheduled in the North Texas Divisional Calendar. The event will be hosted by FIT on Sunday May 18th, 2008. www.northtexasfencing.org/calendar.htm
It will be the 3rd event of the 2007-8 Southwest Region Veteran's Circuit Cup (SRVCC). The event will be posted at AskFred in the near future.
Part of the registration and event fees are supporting the season medals for the SRVCC, which will be awarded at the 2008 Fete de Luna, the 1st event of the 2008-9 SRVCC season.

The Jurassic did not have sufficient quorum to be added to the SVCC standings. There is a need for a minimum of 5 fencers to earn points.
SVCC standings for past season (2007-8) are posted at the Points section of Ask Fred: askfred.net/Results/pointsLists.php
Other issues:
For the single weapon rankings, I used the following formula: Vet Combined fencers only. Using USFA Div1(no repechage) points chart. Top 75% (rounded up, max 32) in each event earn points. Fencer's total is comprised of their top 3 points earnings. TIE BREAKERS: Top 4 points earnings, top 5, top 6. Most 1st places, most 2nd's, 3rd's, etc. Still tied? You make the call!
For the 3-weapon rankings, the following formula was used: Vet Combined fencers only. Fencers earn the inverse of their placement, plus one. For example, first place in a 30 person event gets 31 points. Second place gets 30 points, and last place gets 1
Tentatively, I plan to use the same formula for the 2008-9 season. However, I would like to hear your comments, questions, etc. We could go back to use the 3 weapon formula for all rankings, use the current formula with a 50, 75, or 100% cut to earn points, etc.
Medals for the 2007-8 season will be awarded to the TOP 8 of each category at the dinner of the 10th Fete de Luna tournament.
Two tournaments are already scheduled for the 2008-9 season: The 10th Fete de Luna, which promises to be another good one, and the 4th Veterans' Melee in January '09 in San Antonio.

Today, I picked up the 2007-8 SVCC Medals. I think they look very nice. They are similar to the Salle Pouj medals earned at the 3rd Veteran's Melee, but obviously a different logo. Medals are given (see above post in this thread) to the top 8 of each category listed in the AskFred standings. I know that there are (for some unknown reason) a few minor mistakes. Please look at the point total and if there are two tied in 8th place, both will get medal this year. In future years, tied places will result in a duel ... (sorry..) a bout to resolve the tie and earn the medal placement.

Standings for the new season have been posted in AskFred for: by weapon and by 3-weapon points.
You can find them in the Point List tab. The by-weapon standings are the 3rd entry and the 3-weapon was pushed to half-way in the first page.

The logo for the SVCC was created by Mark Cochran, from Rome Fencing Club in Georgia - www.romefencing.org/
He now has a website at the Cafe Press store selling several T-shirts and baseball caps with the SVCC logo. He placed the least amount of markup possible on the items. I would like to thank him for his effort developing our logo. I particularly liked the CU Ringer T-shirt and the Khaki baseball cap.
