Just curious and it is certainly nothing I need be concerned about. I've seen some internet chatter that if you are a foil referee above a certain level you WILL referee saber at NACs, simply to give the USFA more saber referees. Some foil refs might want to make sure they don't advance to the sabre ceiling... Anything from our higher rated refs?

Seeing as how I'm equally rated in foil and sabre, and actually referee more sabre than foil at NACs, I'm not in a position to comment. But I've seen a number of competent foil referees drafted into sabre events to see how they perform. Some continue refereeing sabre (Jerry Benson, example number one). Others.... don't get used in the sabre events again (this will remain nameless in public!). But, yea, the FOC has an active program to recruit and train more sabre referees. Particulary honest ones, who aren't connected to the, um, less scrupulous block of people, which is an issue that has plauged sabre refereeing before.
