This is the mirror to the post for fencers on the Tournaments Board.
What is the most enjoyable tournament for each of you, as a referee
I'm also allowing there may be two answers: the most enjoyable single tournament you ever refereed at and the most enjoyable recurring tournament, the one you look forward to going back to all year.
Also, please share with why you gave those answers.

The Rose Condon definitely takes the cake as the best tournament to work. They always treat us well, feed us, hire enough of us to make sure we don't get exausted, run it in a professional, competent manner, and do all the little things that make the tournament enjoyable.

The Rose is great, and probably my favorite for the same reasons David cites. I'd also like to give credit to the Oz Parsons for being right up there in terms of referee care. The real drawback to it is the length of the drive from Austin (or Houston!) but it's so well done I can't complain.
As for most enjoyable single tournament, this year's Pouj probably has it because I had the pleasure of directing the Gold Medal Mixed Epee bout, a distinct honor. I'm going to the NAC E in Reno, and while I expect it to be difficult (in terms of endurance), I hope to have a good time learning for the National level.

Yes, the Oz is definitely number 2 on my list of reoccuring events - excellent referee care, fantastic support, great venue, first class oversight. What bumps the Rose up though, just has to be the referee baskets .
