Here something that has been nagging at my mind (such as it is) for a few months.
This was an epee competition but I do not think the weapon is significant.
Fencer X advances on Fencer Y.
Fencer Y makes a slow retreat, drawing Fencer X closer. Fencer Y, right-handed, is also hugging the edge of the strip on his right side.
Once X is in range, Y executes a lunge landing on target. In the course of launching into the lunge, Y's back foot flies off strip completely. Does that stop the action prior to the hit, or is this an instance of a coup lance'?
Allow that the back foot is launched at the same moment and the weapon arm extention.
