Okay, this one crosses so many forms, genres and disciplines, this is the ONLY board it may fit in. I found this in my email and submit it for the forum's population to review. Competing as they are in Texas, it may be worth a trip to see.

Greetings,
This year the Battlefield Weapons Tournament is going to happen! It may not be large, but I have commitments from all over coming in. The tournament is scheduled for April 4,5 2009. Everyone say a prayer that it really starts something cause We Are The Only Fair That Has It. I am expecting at least 50 entries for this first time but more may come along as the time draws near. We will be having visitors from Puerto Rico, Korea and a few other states over the U.S. as it stands right now. Please make the competitors welcome and get them to come back
again. This is going to be a chance to see professional martial
artists in action with their traditional weapons. I am so nervous I may not sleep for months!

Battlefield Weapons Tournament
&
Intramural Seminars
April 4-5, 2009
This is a weapons only tournament for all styles - Asian, European, South American - all traditions are welcome. It consists of Sparring and Kata/Forms and will be adults only. Sparring is elimination-style with winners from each weapons division (staff against staff, pole arm against pole arm, swords against swords, etc.) competing against each other for Grand Champion. Kata/Forms will be judged on practicality and precision of technique with winners of each division competing against each other for Grand Champion.
The tournament also includes intramural seminars, featuring the instructors of some of the various styles fighting in the competition tournament, and open sparring. These seminars and sparring are open to adults of all styles, whether or not they are entered in the competition. We hope to encourage participation by martial artists in order to share and learn from those of other disciplines. We would love more instructors to be involved and invite those who are interested to send their name, style, rank, and contact info. This event will be held regardless of number of entries.
This is a chance to combine knowledge of weapons, knowledge of the human body, and knowledge that you could wind up across from anyone in historical wars gone by, to safely duplicate a true battlefield-style fight. It is a chance for those of us who are serious about what we do to find out how good we are.
Registration forms are avalaible online. Please note: THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION AT THE GATE! A minimum of 100 competitors are needed for the tournament to take place but the intramural seminars and open sparring will be held regardless of the number of entries.
