From the Agenda of the USFA Board of Directors (Meeting to be held during JOs):
3. Motion (Mr. Dilworth): that given, the growth of fencing at the national tournament level and the location of the 2006 Summer Nationals relatively near the majority of the fencing population, the national office is directed to establish plans to make available a minimum of 65 strips for the 2006 Summer Nationals. Further, the tournament committee, after preparing the projections of the needs of the tournament will give to the National office at least 30 days prior to the tournament their best estimate of the number of strips necessary to smoothly run the event.
Rationale: It is understood from members of the tournament committee that the current plan is to have 54 strips for the 2006 Summer Nationals. This is the same number as last year and the year before. Fifty-four strips were not adequate then; it will be even more inadequate given the growth and location of the event this year.

From Brad's notes of the USFA BoD meeting:
Motion 3 was moved to urgent. The current plan now calls for 60 strips, which is the maximum that will fit in the venue. With two other large sporting events (volleyball and TKD) going on simultaneously it was represented that expanding to additional space(s) was unlikely to be possible. The motion was withdrawn.
