Since another poster specifically pointed out that I have not spoken on the subject of candidacy for Division office, I will change that.
I have for over a year made clear to anybody interested (and some who were not) in coversations that I was willing to serve the Division in elective office -- provided that office was not Chairman. However, I have cautioned that if there were ever a conflict between doing my job properly and the convenience of others holding elective office, my duties of office would come first and I might not make myself loved for that.
Only one thing has changed since I first started saying this. I have learned enough more about the office of Chairman that I would be willing to serve in that capacity too. (Note that I am not my own first choice for that position, and who my first choice is is not relevant to this thread.)
I have for a while been expecting that someone would nominate me for Secretary. Indeed, I have thought that I might very well be the only nominee for Secretary (and therefore not even have the opportunity to vote against myself). I have been hearing suggestions of voters that, under current circumstances, the role in which I might best be able to serve the needs of the Division is Secretary. However, if the electorate thinks I could be of better service in some other way, I am amenable. I refuse to suggest what other role that would be.
I would prefer to avoid unnecessary campaigning, but will respond if the electorate wishes to know specifics. In vague generalities, I am a great believer in the protections of rights (rights of majorities, rights of minorities, and even rights of individuals), and am fond of equality (where possible) and equitability (where equality is not logical).
