SWIFA Rotation Proposal:
This is to address a new rotation scheme for hosting SWIFA tournaments starting the fall of
2012. This will be disseminated by being posted on the SWIFA facebook page, posted on the
SWIFA forum, and emailed.
Problems to address:
How to handle volunteering
Issue with rotation for later tournaments becoming skewed as people pass on rotation.
Here is my proposition:
• Each SWIFA tournament has a premade list, unaffected by the host of previous
tournaments
• One of the top 2 schools of each list is expected to host the tournament for that list’s
SWIFA #
• Of the top 2, whichever school declares themselves able to host the tournament first will
gain priority over the other.
• Of the top 2, the school not hosting should be able to help the school that is hosting
manage the tournament
• The top 2 must have confirmation 4 weeks in advance of the tournament date, else
potentially forfeit rights to host the tournament to a volunteer or the next school on the
list (3rd school, 4th, ext).
• Volunteers to host a tournament must declare which tournament they want to host and
will be given priority over other volunteers by order of when they declare it.
• To volunteer a school must know that they can host that tournament.
• Volunteering for one SWIFA tournament does not change a school’s position on other
tournament list.
• If a school has already volunteered for one SWIFA tournament, and hosted it, then they
lose one place of priority should they volunteer to host another SWIFA tournament or
each previously hosted volunteer tournament. (This is to help prevent one school from
hosting too many tournaments and preventing other schools from volunteering.)
