I would imagine that, if there is a deadline, it would be on the official division site...
I confess, I have not looked for it, myself. I just back from volunteering the NCAAs (and I can attest kb was doing the same). I'll look later tonight, after dinner.
BTW, I know where kb and vraptor were today, where were the rest of you?

What will be the last date to declare candidacy? I request the administrator of this board take such action as he deems appropriate for the off-topic message I am quoting, and especially this off-topic response I am writing. Consider taking some of the information from both, and editing the original post to include it, and deleting these messages. The Bylaws make no mention of a closing time for declarations of candidacies in advance of the meeting. However, such a declaration would have to be made long enough before the meeting that the people at the meeting could know that it happened. By the afternoon of Saturday the 1st, nobody will be looking at this thread any more. As is made clear on the Division's Web site, declaration prior to the meeting is NOT required. It is merely an opportunity which the Bylaws require be extended. Candidates may be nominated on the floor of the meeting any time before nominations are actually closed during the meeting.

It seems to me that would make the deadline for declaring a candidacy would in effect be the time the motion to take a vote on the officers is made (assuming that declaring a candidacy is out of order in discussion of the motion). However, candidacies announced not at the meeting are probably not noted unless announced at least a day or two in advance.

When one has a question, one chooses the thread most likely to encompass the question. Thank you , John for providing a place for questions. Here's the next one: Which of our present GCD executive committee officers will be seeking re-election? Thank you, KB

Thank you , John for providing a place for questions. We try. As to re-election bids, the only one I know of so far is the one made by Matt. Remember, though, if this pleases or annoys you, express those feelings here. Make your own campaign bid here. We just want to keep the candidates' statements and your responses to them on separate threads, so people can go one place and just read their statements without wading through the inevitable trash talk. ... and of course use the thread we are in right now for your questions. Consider this a vain attempt to keep things civil (says the man in the division where the first swordsmen to settle the area were pirates!)
