WORLD CUP UNDER 20 MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SABER IN FRASCATI: VICTORIES BY LUIGI SAMELE AND IRENE VECCHI
11/19/2005, FRASCATI - The 2005 edition of the Golden Meeting men's and women's saber just concluded with a double, splendid Italian success. Men's winner was Luigi Samele; women's winner was Irene Vecchi with great satisfaction of the CT Christian Bauer.
The two tournaments organized by the club Frascati Scherma and valid for the World Cup under 20, were rich in emotions. In the men's competition Luigi Samele confirmed his excellent shape which led him to win recently the European Junior Championship in Tapolca, Hungary. Samele dominated the tournament winning the final 15-6 comfortably against a very good Luigi Miracco after outclassing in the semifinal the Swiss Stephane Richie 15-5.
Italian success in the women's competition also with Irene Vecchi who beat in the final the American Jackie Jacobson, the younger sister of Sada and Emily, the well known saber champions. Obviously for Irene the air of the region is very good since few days ago in Ariccia she placed second in the regional qualification behind Lorena Gulotta who today finished in seventh place.
