Does anybody know if there are any groups meeting during the day to fence (foil) in the Houston area? I need a class or open fencing that takes place sometime between 9 and 2 when the kids are in school. Otherwise I might have to take up - ug - tennis.
Thanks in advance!

Interesting question. I expect in most places fencing is an evening activity because most people are more free then. Could your kids take it up too? However, there's probably many other people in your position, so if there aren't any, there should be.

Send me an e-mail at sydgorman@hotmail.com, and I'll send you some info around the start of next week. If you can think of a few friends who'd also be intersted, that would help. Dan

Dear Ceedee,
This is the first time I logged in in a while, so I am glad I did today. Katy Blades has a women's group that meets Thursday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am. The group is about 3 months old, and started on the insistence of several mothers of my Katy Youth Fencing League parents. The young men, 10/11/12, were very surprised that their moms beat them like a drum during the Christmas break. I have been working on the mental approach to fencing, and these ladies have really enjoyed it.
Please call 281.703.5064 or email me katyblades@sbcglobal.net with any questions.

Thank you, guys, for your information. I've sent you an e-mail, Dan.
I'm happy to hear about the women's group in Katy. Kamilla used to have one at BCFA before she left, and it was great fun. And, yes, wins are especially fun when you're a supposedly unthreatening "mom."
I have to gear myself up to drive out to Katy, as I live inside the loop. To me, Katy might as well be San Antonio! But I'm very tempted, and I most likely will see you there soon.
Thanks again.
