I spoke with Cathy Dean this afternoon, and many volunteers pulled out at the last minute for the NCAAs. They are recruiting people from tennis, handball, etc. All volunteers receive two box suite tickets to an Astros game, (per Cathy Dean). Lunch will be provided. Please call Marty Wysocki if you can help. This is the number from John's site.
"If you can volunteer your services, please do so. Contact Marty Wysocki at 713-870-3346. Look for me while you are there. I plan to volunteer all three days."
All volunteers will have lunch served, and the day is shorter than normal. The NCAAs need a timer and scorekeeper for each strip, and there are eight strips.
All spectators or attendees can park for free behind the Walgreens at Sage and Westheimer. It is the JW Marriott's parking. I saw the beginnings of the set up yesterday, and the Marriott is going to be decked out. Last year the George Brown was too big, but the ballroom looks great with NCAA banners everywhere. There are two practice strips in the foyer. You will be even closer to the fencing than normal.

That sounds really cool. Too bad I'm already committed to the Gold Blade.

I'm stuck working today, but they can have me all day Friday through Sunday. I also get off at 4 PM, so I will try to check by this evening and, at least, help out for the end.

Wish I could come.. I helped out last year and loved watching the women sabre fencers from Duke. Plus I got to talk to Coach Beguinet longer then I usually do, which was great too.
