I know there are LOTS more variations, but try to pick the closest to what you would like to see if you entered a tournament as a fencer.
Do NOT wear your referee or coach's hat for this one.
We will run this poll for about a week just to see how many like what.

repechage how does it work in a fencing tournament? It means peaple who are...ahem....fencing skills challenged...have another chance to get the poo beaten out of them. Sorta like double elimination, you lose TWO times and you're out I like it for the aforementioned reason

Maybe I should put up another poll for those poor souls running the tournaments? I wonder how many votes you'd get for repechage then?

Maybe I should put up another poll for those poor souls running the tournaments? I wonder how many votes you'd get for repechage then? I don't mind running repechage if: 1. The tournament format is publicized with repechage. 2. The close of registration is before 9 a.m. With our tendency to have A2 epee tournaments, this ensures a decent Miller Time. 3. There aren't any obnoxious, bullying parents wondering why this isn't being run faster. (Oh yes, there's a story there) 4. It's epee or saber. I can't imagine running repechage with foil. Wouldn't it take fooooooorrreeeeeeeever? Now that Fencing Time does it all for you....it is not a big deal at all.

I agree with kb. The issue most competitors and parents don't realize is the reseeding in the loss column and the variations available. Of course, Andrey through every variation available to her (at her) and she handled them well.
Today we had 15 people, and to give good fencing and run it on time we did two rounds of pools 5 per pool. We combined the results of both rounds for DEs. Fencing Time handled it well, and I delayed the beginning of DEs to make certain that both rounds of pools were added since the seeding table only showed the last round. It was added and fine, and we started about 12:30 and ended at 4:15/4:20. We each got in 8 pool bouts and then the DE bouts. It was a good format for a small tournament. I won't lose the 15 - 25 minutes to check the seeding manually next time.

Of course, Andrey through every variation available to her (at her) and she handled them well. Okay, so, I'm only familiar with one rep format - the one spelled out in the '95 USFA rulebook. Is there another one out there? *shudder* I can't imagine it getting any more complicated than that...
