What's with all the spamming of the classical fencing board? We do get periodic spam waves. Why that board, I have no idea. When I see them I delete them and ban the IP that shows up. These are all originating in East Asia (Kuala Lampur, Teipei, etc...). Some time back I got turned on to a snippet of code that blocks posts in non-roman characters and that cut back ona lot it (the ones that read like gibberish). These post in English and get through. It's a never-ending little war. Also, to the moderators of the various boards here, feel free to trash any such if they appear on your boards.

Well, now, the stuff over the weekend was awe-inspiring. Did we make someone mad? Sheesh.

Okay, I'm going to try something different.
If a guest wishes to start a thread or post a reply on a non-restricted board, just below the text box where they type their message, there will be a randomly-generated collection of characters.
In order for their post to go through, they will need to exactly copy that set of characters (they ARE case-sensitive) in the field below. This is similar to what some Yahoo Groups and other sites use to allow membership applications.
We will see how this plays out.

Quiet so far... has anyone tried to see if your "guest pass" even works?

I'm generally opposed to those measures, since they make life very hard for blind people and others with adaptive technologies, but since the easy workaround is to register, it doesn't seem as so much a problem to me.

It just doesn't seem to me to be that big an issue to register. Still, I confess that I like that this forum lets people who just pop in to post without any fuss.
I, myself, registered so I could vote in all those "fencer to win" etc polls. Good stuff.

Glad it worked and you got in (and the spambots did not).

I should add that, what with different things I've been dealing with, including prowling through this forum to screen out spambots, I have had some moments of odd humor. I do suggest only visiting the Forbidden Zone if you are very patient. The AnnoyBot lives up to its name, indeed.

I just noticed you added a new zorro-themed skin! Just for that, I will now forgive you for the "forbidden" board and the annoy-bot!!!!!!
