In a fit of insomnia, I've just been to the NBC Olympics website. I've searched and searched and just can't find fencing as a covered sport. If someone sees a definate broadcast schedule anywhere, please post here. The final schedules don't seem to be out, but the coverage text on MSNBC, and the minor NBCs don't mention fencing. They mention canoeing, the equestrian events, etc. Also, if there's someone we can email to lobby a bit...post here and we'll spread the news!

I read somewhere a few years ago that companies (and politicians also) have formulas to determine roughly how many people are represented by a particular form of communication. I don't remember the numbers, but it was along the lines of:
Personal visit 1,000x Letter 100x Form Letter 20x Phone call 10x E-Mail .0001x
Actually e-mail might have been 1x, but basically they worked out that ease of transmission of the message corrolates to the number of people who feel that way and don't bother to communicate it. Since e-mail is so easy....
Basically, I guess what I'm saying is that if you really want to see fencing on TV, drop in and tell the powers that be that. Or maybe write a letter and have lots of other fencers in lots of other locations write a letter too.
Then watch/tape it, and let the network know that you watched (don't trust the Nelsons), and let the sponsers know you saw there product advertised during the fencing coverage. That way they see money in it and continue to air it with less of a struggle.
Just a thought.
