For the registered users, you may notice when you see a post by another registered user, a little below their name is a karma rating. Also, there are two clickable links. One reads "exalt" the other "smite."
This will allow you to smite your foes and exalt your friends, generating positive or negative karma points.
Silly and useless, I realize, but a few have already emailed me with how therapeutic they found the process to be.
FYI: You may only exalt/smite one person per hour.

The only thing better is to smite them with a blade!

I did notice that before I noticed our most recent spammer, "nevin," and deleted/banned him/her/it, Katman took a moment to smite him. He left us with a negative 1 karma rating.

I was compiling some stats last night. I was a bit surprised. I was, initially, worried that there would be wholesale "smiting."
Instead, this is what I found (without naming names).
Only 17 times has the "smite" function been accessed, including those against spammers who were then deleted.
Only 10 users have employed this function.
Six users have employed the smite function a single time each.
One user has employed it twice.
Three users have made use of the function 3x each.
The "exalt" function, on the other hand, is used way too often for me to make a short report here. I guess were basically a pretty nice bunch.

So where did those options go? I was going to smite someone earlier and saw that I couldn't.

I knew I should've copied it on this thread. Here is what I wrote the other day in the thread on changes to the forum:
"I recently added a feature to allow members to choose their fencing affiliation. I had included all of the sport fencing clubs in our division, plus those of some nearby friends, as well as the Section, itself, and each division in the SW Section and Texas.
I had also included other organizations, such as the SCA, ARMA and the Society of American Fight Directors.
The problem is, it only seemed to work for about 50% of our members. There seemed no common denominator amongst those it worked for versus those it did not.
As it turns out, however, the problem generates randomly. The code for the affiliation choice and for "karma" tend to keep each other from working properly.
So I put it to the membership. Neither is a particularly necessary function.
Is one favored over the other?
Or would the membership prefer another function, perhaps a field for listing fencing classification and referee or coaching ranks? (Granted, this will be of minimal use to the non-sport fencers in our group). "
