I don't know if this is way off-topic or not (apologies, Schlager, if it is), but are there any coaches in the division who teach classical fencing?
If this is a sport-fencing-only board like Fencing Net, feel free to ignore this post.

First of all, this is not a sport-fencer only board. I would love to see more of the classical, historical, stage and SCA fencers make an appearance here. The more the merrier.
As to classical coaches, I know of none currently offering lessons in the Houston area. Richard Alvarez has taught classical fencing (as well as period fencing and competitive fencing, done his share of choreograpohed pieces, as well). However, while he is in the area, he is not currently teaching.
Jerry Dunaway at South Houston has expressed his enjoyment of classical fencing, but is also not teaching it at this time. In order to keeping a fencing program in a PE department, you have to turn out competitors.
Perhaps someday. soon. If so, I'll be in the registration line next to you.

I confess to being surprised that no one is going the classical fencing route in Houston. Plenty of sports fencers and more than a few historical fencers (plus SCA and some kendo).
It seems pretty much the full fencing spectrum is here except classical fencing.
I mostly just know what I've seen on web pages (and I read Adam Crown's book).
