During an idle surfing moment, I stumble across a reference to a dojo that taught kumdo, a korean version of kendo, in the Houston area. It is called Iron Dragon Martial Arts, on I-10 at Federal Road.
Anyone familiar with them?

Sorry, but I'm not aware of any kendo in Corpus Christi. I found a post on a kendo forum back in February that read:
Hi, all. I'm new around here and am a huge fan of the Japanese sword arts. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas and a collector of Japanese Iaito. Needless to say, I don't have a particularly large collection, but I'm workin' on that. Sadly enough, there are no Iaido, Kendo OR Kenjutsu schools here, in Corpus. I have a little experience in these arts, practicing the movements, etc. Most of it I've learned purely through a LITTLE bit of training (not nearly enough, though) and some observation. But in order to do the arts any justice and in order to be respectful, I'm gonna get back into a dojo and get to learnin'. I plan on moving to Houston and I hear there's a couple of schools there, so I'm gonna look into that as soon as I get out of school. Well, I'm gone for now, The Dude.

Iron Dragon in Seabrook?
I don't know anything about it, per se. OTOH, some of my colleagues at the Clear Lake Fencing Club had an arrangement with the owner a few years ago to use it one night a week as an extra practice facility, but that was strictly for modern, Olympic-style fencing (foil, sabre, epee...)
Some of those guys are still at the club. I'll ask around.
I'm afraid I don't know much about the Corpus Christi area except for the local fencing club there (Coastal Bend Fencing Society, again the foil-epee-sabre variety of fencing).

I didn't even notice until today. They kendo fencer in the Forum Theatre is obviously from the Houston Budokan. I guess, that one did have a local color to it. (No way, however, that I am buying that it drew that huge of a crowd here in Houston).

Regarding Iron Dragon, I found an online "commercial" that did show some kendo/kumdo near the end. I'll probably run it for a week or so in the cinema. I planned to update that are tonight or tomorrow morning, anyway.
What did anyone think of the sabre vs kendo shot?
