This has got to fall into the "why do we even try" category.
Much work was done by people from several clubs last week to hammer out the first draft of the 2005-2006 season.
It was a fairly good beginning, considering every club had to dance around NACs and SSCCs. The the two qualifying competitions were scheduled and the first round of tournament schedules pieced together. I offer my personal compliments to everyone who showed up:
Bill, Augie, Andrey, Jerry, Sinclair, Doreen, Matt, Mauro, Rachel, Tom, Lucia, Louise, Giorgio, Steve, Nicole.
Really, guys, it was encouraging.
Of course, since there were a lot of people all trying to get along, naturally we get zapped from the outside.
I checked the section calendar yesterday and, lo and behold, the Sectional Qualifiers were schedule right on top of the Divisional Qualifiers. Now we knew they would smack someone. CLFC even grabbed one more tournament date than we normally use so it could be offered to whomever got smacked.
But our own divisional qualifiers? It kind of hurts me that our calendar was not consulted.
(OK, I know it wasn't on the "official" site, but I stayed up until 1 AM after our meeting to post the times of the new season on the rogue site... and my work alarm rings at 5!)
Jerry has to ask for a gym WAY in advance. He's moving our qualifiers back a week so as not to conflict, but there's a "tentative" RYC on THAT weekend.
I know there is nothing that anyone reading this can do. We are all in the same boat. It just gets tiring every single year. The season starts August 1st and every year we wait on the NAC schedule to be posted. Once they get posted, we wait for the SSCC schedule, and now the RYC. I suppose local schedules are not expected/supposed to be posted until sometime two weeks after Labor Day?
To my colleagues in the division, "In all seriousness, you did great work, guys." To the National level, perhaps seasonal planning should begin a bit sooner? Hmm?
