Williams, KWTX Staff Writer TEMPLE (April 13, 2010)—Temple Daily Telegram newspaper carrier Emilio Ybarra, 56, was taken to Scott & White Hospital early Tuesday morning after he was shot in what police said was a domestic disturbance involving his estranged wife. Mary Ybarra, 55, was arrested and taken to the Bell County Jail, where she’s facing an aggravated assault charge. The shooting was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the World Martial Arts Academy at 711 S. 1st St., where they found Emilio Ybarra with a gunshot wound to the upper arm. His injures weren’t believed to be life threatening, police said. His estranged wife was arrested at the scene. Emilio Ybarra drove to the parking lot after his estranged wife called him on his cell phone as he ran his regular deliver route early Tuesday, police said. She was waiting in her vehicle in the parking lot of the martial arts academy near her residence when he arrived, police said. He was shot after walking up to her vehicle and speaking to her briefly, police said. He disarmed her and then called 911, police said.

Sadly, nothing about being a fencer exempts us from the same problems and hazards everyone else experiences. A sad situation.
