Using the data in the Agenda for the USFA Board of Director's meeting (at this coming JOs), that Brad Baker posted a link to (on Fencing Net) I got to looking at the data (Dated to February 6, 2006). BTW: Here's a link to the agenda itself: www.fencing.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1318&d=1139287332Appendix F appears to give the membership data on the 68 divisions that make up the USFA. The largest division in terms of membership appears to be a tie between the New England and New Jersey Divisions at 1343 each. (I confess I'm having some trouble accepting the coincidence. I fear there is an error, since the total number of USFA memberships I get when I add up the divisonal subtotals is 18,044 and they indicate they get 17,964 when they total it up) (Help me, Matt!) Anyway, the smallest division is Wyoming with 38 members. The Gulf Coast Division is the 6th largest with 546 members. The membership breakdown follows: Associate 3 Coach 11 Club 16 Family 215 Life 8 Olympic Life 1 Paralympic Life 0 Supporting Life 1 Junior 198 Senior 59 Veteran 34 Total: 546 To compare with the other divisions in our section: Gulf Coast: 546 (6th) North Texas: 381 (16th) South Texas: 292 (21st) Ark-La-Miss: 140 (44th) Oklahoma: 120 (49th) Louisiana: 115 (50th) Border Texas: 58 (61st) This gives the Southwest Section a combined total membership at this point in time of 1,652.

Oh, it gets better. If you add the categories sideways, the NE division has 1342 members, but the New Jersey Division has 1256.

Thanks for the correction. I'll treat all the data as dubious. It shows the Ark-La-Miss Division is in the Southeast Section. It is, of course, the Southwest Section, as if the Border TX Division, which still shows to be in the Rocky Mountain Section.

Maybe we're being dismembered and didn't know it.
Maybe the SE section needs the Ark-La-Miss Leadership to take over if they're to remain viable...
