Another motion going before the USFA BoD this February (see www.fencing.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1318&d=1139287332 ) is as follows: 1. Motion (Ms. Baumgart and Mr. Herman, for the Tournament Committee): That participation in the Division I team competitions, commencing with the 2006 Summer Nationals, is open only to those who have achieved the ratings of C and above. Rationale: By vote of the Board of Directors, three team competitions are now held at Summer Nationals: Junior, Senior, and Division I. In many cases over the last several years the same fencers have comprised many of the teams competing in both the Senior and Division I events. By including only those with ratings of C and above, the two competitions will be differentiated and the level of fencing for Division I will be more consistent with that which is in place for other Division I events. Those clubs that are not able to field a Division I team will continue to be able to compete in the senior team competitions.

Just FYI, Brad Baker has posted his notes from BoD meeting on Fencing Net.
With regard to this motion, he posted:
Going through the motions that were proposed. Motion 1 was moved to urgent status. It passed with 1 vote opposed.

It does seem a rather logical change to make.
