I was thinking of the Age Limits thread, and it occurred to me that with a proper sized fencing population, there are all kinds of events which could be held for fun and social purposes. For example, many Veterans Tournaments include banquets, a cash bar, and other social activities. You can restrict entry by rating, by some age groups, by gender, that's all clear. How about non-standard limits.
For example, a Young Singles Tournament with all mixed events, entrants being between 18 and 25 (or 30).
How about a tournament where entry requires at least a Bachelors Degree?
The oft rumored Vet-22+ Event, where kids who are still in school of some kind and have all the time to train aren't entering.
Would any of these be ok? All of them? What do other people think?

I'd say yes, for a "for fun" tournament. A young singles tournament sounds a lot like some weird mixer, but fun!

But would it get USFA sanction, be covered under their insurance, offer ratings increases, etc?

Most likely it would be covered under insurance, but not be for ratings.

In a lot of ways it would be rather like a kind of invitational, which generally may not give classifications (because not just anyone may attend), but would still be covered by the insurance.
