from the USFA
We have recently added a new service on the USFA website. You can now view a list of current members sorted by division and including classification, gender, year of birth and birth year verification. The list will be updated weekly and will include memberships and classifications received and processed prior to posting. The list may be accessed on the front page at www.usfencing.org.
More detailed electronic lists, including club affiliations and addresses can still be requested as needed by division or section officers.
We have also recently upgraded to a more durable and functional plastic membership card. The new card has a bar code corresponding to the membership number and also a key tag attachment that can be placed on a keychain, workout bag, shoelace, etc. We are in the process of developing a means to use the barcode at our national events, with the idea that this technology might eventually be available on the local or regional level. The key tag can serve as proof of membership in the event that regular-sized membership card is lost, misplaced, or forgotten.
Due to the increasing costs of postage and printing, classifications will no longer be printed on this membership card. Street addresses have also been removed due to postal privacy regulations. A sample of the new card image can be accessed on the front page at www.usfencing.org.
We understand this will represent a significant change for you, but hope that the posting of the classifications on the website will enable you to have access to the most up to date information when you need it.
We hope that you will find the membership list posting and the new membership card style to be an improvement, and look forward to seeing you on the strip.
Sincerely,
Dana Brown
