From my e-mail:We have February 18th reserved for SWIFA 3. One difference from the past...we won't be able to host it in the Rec Center (where all of our past tournaments have been)...instead, we'll be hosting it where we practice, in our Read Building. As time gets closer, we'll have more details about the directions to get to that facility, etc. Andrew Spriggs Texas A&M Fencing Club (580) 628 - 0144 andrewspriggs@gmail.com

Just FWIW, I think that's the JOs weekend... RATS. That would probably explain why there was nothing on Fred that weekend... In any case, we don't anticipate a great deal of people of the target SWIFA constituency for whom this would be an issue... Here's our AskFRED page, btw: askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.php?tournament_id=17167

SWIFA #2 was the same weekend as the JOQs for both the South Texas and Gulf Coast Divisions. I didn't hear a word of anybody having a problem with that.

Thanks for putting up a page on FRED so fast, TAMU.
As a reminder, all teams need to list how many squads they plan to have, even if it's only tentative or they only know a partial list of the fencers, so the host team can plan for you. It's nice to have enough strips and refs, so it's also to your advantage.

I'm speaking up for TAMCC then... we will take a team of 3 for each event, except saber where there will be two teams of 3. Gotta love that saber! I'll let you guys know if there happens to be more, but I doubt it.

I'll let you guys know if there happens to be more, but I doubt it. I think you mean squads. TAMUCC is the team. Each team is allowed a maximum of two squads per weapon. Anyway, Grace, have them register themselves on FRED: askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=17167&FREDSID=ljqib3kupmb4nmhrj38ll0our4s

SWIFA Teams: There is a vacancy in the SWIFA Executive Committee due to the resignation of the Vice Chair. We have nominated our current Secretary, Dean Lantrip, to fill that position. This action creates a vacancy for the position of Secretary. The Executive Committee is soliciting nominations for candidates to fill that position. There will be a special meeting held at SWIFA #3 after close of registration to elect a replacement as set forth in Article V, Section 6 of our By-Laws (excerpt below). Kyle Maysel, SWIFA Chair
ARTICLE V: Management by the Executive Committee Section 6. Replacement of Officers: The Executive Committee may replace a member who has resigned or who has been removed by the following procedure: a. At any Special Meeting where a new member of the Executive Committee is to be voted upon, a majority of the members of the Executive Committee must be present or attend by telephone or telephone conferencing. The use of proxy votes is not allowed. b. A majority of the member teams at this meeting must cast votes of approval before the new member of the Executive Committee is approved.

As required by Article V, Section 6, of the SWIFA By-laws, we held an election on February 18 at SWIFA #3 to replace the vacant position of Vice Chair.
By a unanimous vote of the member teams attending, our then current Secretary, Dean Lantrip, was elected as the new Vice Chair of SWIFA.
Also by a unanimous vote of the member teams attending, Daniel Johnson, of Trinity University, was elected as the new Secretary.
Congratulations... or perhaps condolences, to Dean and Daniel!
