The Alliance Epee team seems to be cutting quite a swath, as well.
How interesting. I think these results are being entered even now. New results were added for the Gulf Division in the last post as I refreshed my screen....

They did well. Also congrats to Chris Ahn, the division's only medalist in saber. He earned his E and 69 national points.

I am just SO freaking spoiled by this... They only just now posted the FRIDAY results on the USFA page (tho it is still light-years ahead of where it was last year).

To give an update on how close some of the fencing was, Christian McNamara was fencing in the Y12 to make the 32 versus ElKassas from PA. They have fenced in the past, and it as a ferocious bout with second and third intentions, and the other coach screaming for the referee observation. It was a clean bout, with Christian making a few execution mistakes that cost him the second bout of 3.
In the third bout, both fencers fenced wonderfully, and Christian was able to pick up his opponents attack and riposte to the back with about 30 seconds left to go up 3- 2. His opponent pressed the attack, and after several off-targets his opponent fleched with Corps-de-Corps, knocking Christian on his back at an angle and hitting the back of his head to the strip.
Christian took the 10 minutes, and began the bout with 4 seconds left. His opponent fleched a moved that Christian had already stopped 10 - 20 times and hit. Priority was called, and Christian lost in the priority period.
Later, Christian admitted his head still hurt and he was groggy. I did not think the fleche was intentional, but it is still amazing how one incident can turn around the bout. He had just riposted against that move to go up 3 - 2, and was clearly flustering his opponent. I think he will be very ready for next year.
