This pretty self-explanatory. The FIE pushes Engarde. The USFA offers Xseed. Fencing Time works with FRED. No doubt there are some that prefer the somewhat more obscure (at least for this area) programs like ATHOS (French), The Director (will work in Windows 3.1!!!) or Fencomp (Works in DOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Anyway, cast your vote and, for the benefit of those still weighing options, tells us why you like one over the others.

XSeed. Because the people that I hire to be the BC for my tournaments prefer it . And I trust their professional judgement and expertise.

I went with Xseed because it was the first one I ever had to learn and was available from the USFA.

Fencing Time because, like you said, it integrates with FRED.
(Is it just me, but are the two most useful sites on the internet for fencing in this country Fencing Net & FRED? You know, the two UNOFFICIAL sites.)

It depends on the level of tournament you want to run, but I'm decidedly impressed with Fencing Time and FRED.
To add in the unoffical sites beating official ones, doesn't GC Div and UH have some of that effect too?

Oh yeah, I've never heard of the bottom four named ones, although I have a copy somewhere of a Mac compatible (but somewhat flawed) tournament software set somewhere on my other computer. Found it on Fencing.net, actually.

I am reviving this thread largely to see if any newer forum members want to participate in the poll: the old which-tournament-software-do-you-prefer bit...

Well, you know what I like-this old dog is lucky to get the computer turned on without messing it up, so I stick with Fencing Time. The newest version has some very nice features. The only problems I've every had w/ FT is operator error.

While, for better or worse, XSeed itself has not been revised, now auxiliary software exists which makes it seem as if XSeed interfaces with FRED.

From the UK-based Fencing Forum:BellePoule is a tournament management software released under the GPL licence. It mainly means that its source code is open and that you can use it for free. Just keep in mind that if you intend to modify it you must publish your modifications. It's still in the beta test stage but is very close to the first official version. You can download it here and report defects or send remarks to the mail address given on the same page.
