For those annoyed by them, I have deleted the counter I ran at the bottom of the main page. It was the source of the pop ups...

Thanks. Is there anyway to make random page loads not lead to ads occasionally? I know this place has to be supported, but is there a Proboards Plus membership or anything?

Thanks. Is there anyway to make random page loads not lead to ads occasionally? Actually, that is what I meant. It seems it was a result of using the counter. I have removed the counter. Let me know if you encounter any more adds of any type: page loads, pop ups or banners...

Thanks. I associate "pop-ups" to be new windows, while there were what I've heard called "interstitals" or something like that.

Actually, no.
That is a program that does slowly what I do quickly by paying not to have the "google ads" banner across the top.
That is the only advertisement Proboards engages in and only on the free sites. I pay a fee to remove the banner ads. They use no popups.
I've asked some more experience souls at proboards to look over my site and see where else such an ad-cookie might be lurking.

Personally I have no objection to Google ads, so you might take a poll as to whether people care if they were there or not. You spend enough energy on this site, it seems a shame to spend money on it if people don't care (unless you care much about it yourself, of course).

Oh boy I got another earn my degree ad. These things pop up even between posting messages and sending PMs rather than taking me back to view the thread. They're everywhere.

I wonder if there's any way to tell them I already have a degree? Then again, maybe it knows. I usually get car ads, I think.

I don't get them too often here, but it is always the on-line degree schtick for me, too. Good luck on finding the cause. Oh, and let me add that banner ads never bother me, if you just wanna save some dough. Pop-ups and re-directs, that's another story. Their creators are scum and should be forced to fence without a jacket... against ALL of US!

Apparently not. Also, I finally got the degree online one, and noticed the car ads were for a Canadian dealership...
