I don't know if anyone else got this email (except Paul Koo, whose email address was also on the copy I got.)
This is related to a fencing exchange student for the Houston area
-------------------------------------------------------------
Good morning! I am writing to you as a volunteer with ISE (International Student Exchange) (www.culturalexchange.us) and we currently have a high school student from South Korea who would like to come and study in the Houston area for a school year (10 months). He would arrive in August and stay until a few days after school ends in May 2006.
The reason I am contacting you, is that the student has been fencing since 6th grade and so we are hoping to find a host family for him that also has an interest in fencing so that it will be a good exchange experience for all involved. (Both my brothers were in fencing so I know what a great experience it is.) I'm hoping you can help!
If you can put me in touch with some people who might be interested to host him while he is in the US, I can provide all the details and information about the program. The basics of the program are: The family provides a place to sleep (can share a room with another boy) and 3 meals a day. The student has his own medical insurance and approx $300/month of his own spending money. www.culturalexchange.ushas more information about host family requirements.....and I can also fill in anyone who may be interested.
Below is some more information about the exchange student coming from South Korea. I hope we will be able to find a good family to host him here in Texas where he can (hopefully) be involved at some level in his fencing - he has been fencing since 6th grade!
He also likes taekwondo, fixing computers, sings in his church choir where his mother teaches bible study, and wants to learn about America! He will be most likely coming in as a freshman.
Thanks so much for your help, and please feel free to forward this information as well as my contact information to any potential people who might like to host. I can answer questions people may have about hosting.
