I recognize Jared's the favorite, but I'm thinking Tim's ready to take him.

The biggest problem with being a referee is that you get the best seat in the house for some bouts (unless it's epee, in which case you get a great view of the bottom half of the bout), but you never get to see the great bouts on other strips. I'm sorry I missed this one.

It was pretty brutal - I really really expected Jared to take it. I wonder if something was off? The score was something like 15-8, 15-9, if I recall correctly.

Nothing off. Tim works very hard, fences in the Div. 1's, has a decent training partner (they lock horns 5-6 days a week-and are good friends) and he has a great coach! Jared is a great kid, a class act and an excellent fencer. There is a small chance he'll end up at UT (Paul Schimmelman should be in prayer for that now). Jared told Tim that he did not know how to counter what Tim was doing (tacticaly) after the break. Tim is getting stronger by the day. Unfortunately Tim is an astros fan. As Mr. T says "I pity the fool".

Kate spent a good portion of the day on Saturday videotaping feet during the sabre event. Tim's footwork is small, tight, fluid and (most importantly) variable, which went a long way towards carrying him to where he needed to be.
And the Astro's rock - no doubt about it!
